December – Science Wonderland (3- day Camp)
Day 1> Code in Motion (BYOD – Bring Your Own Device)
We start the day by an introduction to Robotics, and what the world would be like without these machines. We examine different concepts and terms related to computer coding, and learn how to write simple computer codes.
We finish the morning workshop by introducing participants to blockly coding. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of the blockly language including its syntax. Working in teams, we apply our knowledge in designing a simple project. Children will also make sprites that would be sent to space.
We continue our science wonderland activities by working in teams to investigate the science behind crystals. We create beautiful snowflakes crystals, while learning about the chemistry of catalytic decomposition.
Finally,we learn about the four different seasons, and examine weather around the world. We design simple experiments to help residents of Antarctica keep warm. Participants will learn and integrate concepts from electronic, circuitry and conductivity to make personal wearable circuits.
Day 2> Santa helpers
We transform ourselves into engineers, and learn some aspects of construction. We demonstrate our skills by building a crane, a mover, and other simple machines that make life livable for others, especially for Santa Claus, who has a lot of presents to deliver to children on his “nice list”
‘Tis the season of Lights > Santa needs your help. We examine the properties of light on this day. We light up the roads for santa using a fruity battery. Then,
We transform into little Picassos brimming with creative ideas. We design and create beautiful Christmas cards to all the nice folks on out list.
Day 3> Colorful Christmas
We start this session by learning about colors. We learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colors. We create a color wheel to take home. We continue the day by learning about rainbows by making some fantastic rainbow papers.
Let’s learn about the Magnus effect, can objects fly in the air, even when they do not have wings? Should we ask Santa? Oh yeah!
Who stole all the gifts we bought for the Cre8ive Zone robot? – let’s find out using forensics. Children will learn about forensics in this fun activity.
